DACUM is an acronym for Developing A Curriculum.
It is used for Occupational Job Analysis as well as designing curriculum.
It is a 3 days “storyboarding” process that provides a picture of what the worker does in terms of duties, tasks, knowledge, skills, traits, tools and future concerns.
The information is presented in a graphic chart form and can include critical and frequently performed tasks and workers’ training needs.
A minimum of six (6) and a maximum of participants recommended for optimal input and results.
This model useful in:
- Development and update of competency-based curricula and training programs.
- Preparing certifications/Continuous Professional Development
- Performance assessments/testing
- Creating HR/organisation development tools such as job descriptions, job-specific performance appraisals, and standard operating procedures
